Facebook to Take Top Spot in Display Ad Market by End of Year

In another sign of Facebook’s continuing online dominance, a report by eMarketer shows Facebook’s net US display revenues will grow 80.9% to $2.19 billion by year’s end. This will push them past Yahoo! to take the top spot as the #1 ad-selling company in the country.

For those using Facebook’s ad network, these numbers aren’t surprising to see. Kono Social finds Facebook display ads to be extremely beneficial for our clients. They are the most efficient way to target the exact type of customer your business is looking for, and if managed properly can be done very cost-effectively.

What’s most amazing about Facebook’s display ad network growth is that these ads are all being displayed on facebook.com. If and when Facebook decides to expand their network to display ads on other websites (e.g. if you were logged into Facebook you would see the same ads at espn.com or cnn.com if they were part of Facebook’s ad network) their reach would expand even further.

This clearly represents the future of online advertising and businesses should take note sooner rather than later.
